Comments: Memory fails me at this point in time as to the exact dates but I recall it was the last voyage before it was to be sold/scrapped. The ship was 23 and so was I. Went from Sydney and around the Pacific Islands and had the time of my young life. Looking at the ship now, it looks so old but then unfortunately so am I. I was in economy class and shared with others but was lucky enough to have a porthole window. Unfortunately lost contact with my fellow passengers over the years, only one I can recall was a young lady from WA who was going to be married after her return.

Comments: My sisters and I travelled to Australia to go to Fairbridge Farm shcool in Molong Australia on the Strathaird. It was a wonderful experience on board ship, especially as an 11year old getting tea and biscuits in bed in the morning. I felt very sorry for our steward who had terrible trouble keeping his trays of food upright when going through the Great Australian Bite. My elder sister and I were two of the very few who were not seasick. Lovely to recall these memories. Thank you.

I have a hand-typed programme of an organised Race Game night on the SS Strathnaver with names and witty reference to passengers participating in 6 events. (Very interesting and a few vague memories of a fancy dress evening). My Mother was an excellent pianist and am sure she spoke of be asked to play her excellent music which she had played in the Silent Theatres and Concerts at Fremantle before she married my Father. Memories never to be repeated!

Especially interested in old motor bikes and was HGV driver since 1961 until retirement last year. I have been searching the net hoping to find an old shipmate we lost touch with a long time ago. Comments: My parents Chris, 26 and Helen, 24 Green, my brother Jeffrey, aged 2 and me, aged 4 sailed from UK to Fremantle in Western Australia in 1959. I am not sure of the dates but I think it was somewhere between August and October 1959. I looked through the photos and saw things that I had very often thought about but couldn't connect. The play room, the dining room, the pool where I lost my bright green bubble swimsuit. It was a very emotional look back in time for me as we left our entire family behind to start a new life. I can't wait to show this website to my Mum and Dad. Is there a passenger list for this journey? I remember being docked in the Suez Canal and seeing traders sending up stuffed camels in baskets. They were all filled with old bandages and rags and had to be destroyed. Anyone else from that voyage with any other memories? I would love to hear from you. What a brave journey my parents made at such young ages. Wow !!

We docked at Outer Harbour and were put into Smithfield Hostel.

Can remember getting in trouble for letting a crying child out of the nursery. I told them they were cry babies and that I should be with the older kids. They just didn’t listen:-) Don’t remember a lot but do remember having a good time. Travelled from Southampton to Adelaide

Comments: Hi, I travelled as a 5 yr old on Strathaird in 1958 with my parents Fred & Audrey as £10 specials. My parents did return to England in the 1970's only to return here this year. Memories are thin on the ground for me but my parents have a signed menu that they have managed to treasure all these years and can remember some of the people who signed it. I am wondering if anyone who travelled and arrived in Melbourne early May 1958 can remember the Morris family and would like to contact us. This is a great opportunity to find others who may have travelled at this time. Have been trying to locate a passenger list via National Archives and haven't been able to access anything. I’m till using British passport and it is interesting each time I renew my residents visa the reactions I get from Immigration, does anyone else have any problems with this? Thanks Jackie
